A senior Iranian official told Reuters Iran had sent Washington a nuclear proposal through Qatar, but Tehran would discuss it only after the United States met seven demands, making further talks conditional on U.S. action.

The official said Washington was reviewing the proposal and declined to comment further. Iran has not published an official list of the demands.

Khaleej Times reported that possible terms include releasing frozen Iranian assets, compensation for war damage and reducing U.S. forces in the region. Its account also listed a halt to U.S. attacks on Iranian territory, lifting the naval blockade on Iranian ports, ending sanctions and stopping hostilities, including in Lebanon.

Iran’s top security official Mohsen Rezaei said earlier this week Tehran would not negotiate or reopen the Strait of Hormuz until its demands were met. Washington has said nuclear issues need to be addressed in any initial negotiations.

NDTV reported growing mediation activity over the Iran-U.S. war, amid concern hostilities could resume after the U.S. midterm elections. U.S. President Donald Trump has declined to rule out renewed strikes after the vote.

EconoTimes previously covered Trump’s decision on further action against Iran.
