Those who are tired of waiting in uncertainty for “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 can make up for it by reading through the manga. The same title and original series is still active and has way more materials to allow the production of a second season. However, the fate of the anime series still hangs in the balance.

The anime adaptation was announced in July 2018 and premiered last January with a total of 12 episodes. It covered more than 70 manga chapters and did a good job of introducing the main characters and the storyline. It revolves around the love triangle of Natsuo, Hina, and Rui who happen to live in the same house because they ended up being step-siblings. Season 1 ended by establishing that the conflict will only intensify leaving fans wanting more of the story through the release of “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2.
As of this writing, chapter 242 is the latest manga installment released meaning there is more than enough materials for another 13-episode run should the producers renew “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2. Unfortunately, some fans believe that the anime series was only meant to have a single season stint.
Many fans are still hoping for good news about “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2. But others are discouraging them from keeping their hopes up because the anime was reportedly just a promotional strategy to boost the popularity of the manga.

Based on where the anime ended, the supposed opening scene of “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 is one of the most interesting sequences in the series. It features a major time skip where Natsuo becomes a successful author and is already married. His publisher wants him to write about his own love story, but his hesitance suggests that his wife could either be Hina or Rui.
