The premiere of the “Dr. Stone” anime series did a great job in establishing the main premise of the show. With the goal of restarting the civilization, Senku and Taiju achieved significant progress in developing the formula that would break humans free from their stone forms. However, before doing so in “Dr. Stone” episode 2, the duo is going to encounter some disturbance.
“Dr. Stone” episode 2: Senku and Taiju attacked by vicious animals
To recap, Senku and Taiju successfully came up with a formula composed of nitric acid from bat droppings and alcohol. The first episode showed the formula to be effective when poured over a petrified bird. In “Dr. Stone” episode 2, Senku and Taiju are expected to test it on humans with the goal of bringing back Yuzuriha — Taiju’s love interest — first.
Just as they are to bring back Yuzuriha, Senku and Taiju will be interrupted in “Dr. Stone” episode 2 after a vicious lion appears from nowhere. They will hypothesize that the wild animal must have gotten out of the zoo after its human caretaker was petrified before locking its cage. This also means that the lion probably ate most of the herbivore animals in the zoo and whatever it can find in the city. The duo will deduce that the lions, after 3,700 years, have practically climbed its way up to the top of the food chain during the Stone World. To simply put it, Senku and Taiju are in grave danger.
“Dr. Stone” episode 2: The strongest primate high-schooler
While scrambling away from the pack of lions in “Dr. Stone” episode 2, Senku and Taiju will try to come up with a plan on how to flee from the beasts. They both lack the physical strength to tackle the animals. They also cannot sacrifice themselves because they are both essential in producing the chemicals that would bring back humanity.
At this point, the science-loving protagonist leads Taiju to the “strongest primate high-schooler” named Tsukasa Shishio. If they ever want to stand a chance at surviving from the animals and a completely changed environment, they need muscles. That is why they will have to postpone healing Yuzuriha and bring back Tsukasa first in “Dr. Stone” episode 2 airing on Friday, July 12.
