The return of “Dragon Ball Super” anime series in 2019 has long been speculated and requested by fans. Now, a new teaser is giving them a little hope that it could be announced as soon as next week.
It all started with a stream of the video game “Super Dragon Ball Heroes” where a cryptic Goku poster was dropped. The images were subsequently shared by @Terez27 on Twitter where the first teaser merely reminds fans that the “Super Dragon Ball Heroes” episode 11 is coming out on May 9.
As we already knew, Heroes episode 11 will be out on May 9 which is Goku Day. Also on that day, "something will happen...?!" and we should check the Heroes website to see what it is. (This is from a Heroes stream, though, so it could be cross-promotional. We don't know.) pic.twitter.com/JrsRcSLG3K

However, another poster was shown at the game’s stream that only reportedly says, “Something will happen.” The announcement was only confirmed to happen on May 9 as well. But, other than that, an animation of Goku from the 2018 “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” movie is the only clue provided.
The original poster and other fans knowledgeable on the franchise are careful not to stir massive excitement among other fans. They have not even directly mentioned “Dragon Ball Super” 2019 return in the online discussions.
However, it would also not be surprising if some fans would hope the teaser could be about “Dragon Ball Super’s” 2019 comeback. It can be recalled that the said movie, which premiered in early 2019 in most regions outside Japan, made Broly a canon character. It was also the first “Dragon Ball” movie with a plot linked to the “Dragon Ball Super” original anime franchise.
It would also make sense for producers to announce the 2019 return of “Dragon Ball Super” on May 9. In 2015, the Japan Anniversary Association officially marked this date as the annual “Goku Day.”
Meanwhile, Twitter user @sailorspazz also advised fellow fans to not keep their expectations up for “Dragon Ball Super” announcement. Considering that the announcement is happening during the airing of a “Super Dragon Ball Heroes” episode, it is possible that producers are only hinting at some updates on the same title video game.
Rumors that new episodes of “Dragon Ball Super” are arriving in 2019 are not new. However, the ones that were reported before were already dismissed by Toei Animation. Since then, the producers have yet to discuss a release date window for the anime.
