Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for broader diplomacy toward a Sudan settlement during a Wednesday call with U.S. adviser Massad Boulos, Anadolu Agency reported, citing Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.

Abdelatty said Egypt wants Sudan’s territorial integrity and state institutions protected. He called for governments in the region and beyond to coordinate on a political agreement aimed at meeting Sudanese people’s demands for security and stability.

The ministry said the call was part of Egypt-U.S. coordination on regional affairs. Boulos serves as U.S. President Donald Trump’s senior adviser for Arab and African affairs.

Anadolu reported that Sudan’s war began in April 2023 amid disagreements over integrating the country’s two forces. The agency said tens of thousands have been killed and 13 million people displaced amid famine and a humanitarian crisis.

The officials also discussed Libya’s political process. Abdelatty called for Libyan parties to shape a lasting settlement with regional and international support, and reiterated Egypt’s support for Libya’s unity and national institutions.

The ministry said they also addressed maritime boundaries under international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
