The Economic Times reported that a StockEdge scan placed eight shares above their 200-day moving averages at the Oct. 26 close, a measure traders use to assess longer-term price direction.
The count describes the shares’ position at the close; it does not establish that they crossed above their averages that day. The Economic Times report characterized the 200-day average as a tool traders use to assess a stock’s broader trend. StockEdge says it does not offer live scans and updates curated scans at the end of the trading day.
EconoTimes previously covered an Oct. 19 StockEdge screen that placed eight stocks below their reported averages; the Nifty 50 fell 1.11% that session.
ETMarkets also reported a separate Oct. 22 screen placing five stocks above their 200-day averages. EconoTimes’ review of the Oct. 22 screen found that closing prices for four entries matched other market-data sources, while Concord Biotech’s reported price differed between listings.
