Ellen DeGeneres is said to be seriously thinking about leaving her talk show after reports that she is mean started going around. Such stories have also been widely discussed in forums and social media and the 62-year-old host was heavily criticized for her supposed harsh attitude when there is no camera.
As per Woman’s Day, Ellen DeGeneres was really stressed out as the public criticized her for her alleged mean actions, and the scrutiny just keeps increasing by the day. The magazine stated that it all started when a thread about the host’s “meanness” went viral. There was a post that asked people to share stories of their own encounter with Ellen, and many have responded.
The allegations hurled against Ellen
Some individuals said they were former employees of Ellen DeGeneres, and they posted their surprising experiences while they were still working for the popular host and comedian. The Independent reported that when comedian Kevin Porter asked people to post some insane stories, his followers began tweeting about Ellen DeGeneres, then they called her “notoriously one of the meanest people alive” so many were shocked.
Stories posted were mostly accusations about Ellen when she is behind the camera in her show. One said that Portia De Rossi’s wife would ask her to pack up and leave the set if she speaks to her without chewing gum first.
“She has a ‘sensitive nose’ so everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her and if she thinks you smell that day you have to go home and shower,” Benjamin Siemon, an LGBT TV writer wrote on Twitter.
He went on to share another instance of why Ellen DeGeneres is mean. “A new staff member was told ‘every day she picks someone different to really hate.’ It's not your fault, just suck it up for the day and she'll be mean to someone else the next day.”
The list goes on and people were commenting that it seems Ellen is not really kind but selfish. They also said to get her off the air.
Is Ellen really quitting her show after these accusations?
While no one can deny these stories since these were personal experiences, Ellen is dealing with negative publicity. However, Gossip Cop pointed out that there is no proof that shows the host is thinking about quitting because of the allegations. In short, it is false because she is in fact going back for another season since she already signed a contract as well.
