Ether (ETH) options open interest reached $5.77 billion in a Nov. 4 Coinglass snapshot, while calls made up a slightly smaller share of daily trading than of outstanding positions.

The reading, recorded at 7:20 a.m. ET (12:20 UTC), put open interest above the $5.52 billion reported the previous day. Options trading volume over the 24-hour period was about $1.26 billion.

Calls accounted for 61.27% of open positions and 60.43% of contracts traded over 24 hours, a 0.84 percentage-point smaller share. Puts made up the remainder in each measure.

Bybit's Ether call with a $5,000 strike and a Friday, Nov. 6, expiry led the individual-contract volume rankings. An OKX $2,325 call expiring Thursday, Nov. 5, was second, followed by a Bybit $4,000 call due Nov. 6.

The largest positions were different from the contracts leading daily trading. By open interest, the top three were a Deribit $3,200 call expiring Dec. 25, a Deribit $2,200 call with the same expiry, and a Deribit $2,000 put expiring Nov. 13.

Open interest counts contracts that remain outstanding; volume counts contracts traded during a set period. Calls and puts can be used to hedge exposure, so their relative shares alone do not show traders' overall market direction.

An earlier EconoTimes snapshot of Ether options also recorded $5.77 billion in open interest on Oct. 26. In that reading, calls represented 63.14% of open positions and 59.21% of trading volume, while 24-hour volume was $655.37 million.
