“Food Wars” season 5 is less than two weeks away from coming back on the air. To celebrate that, an all-new promo video was released recently showing snippets of what happened in the first two episodes. It also previews important scenes in the upcoming episodes, including a sneak peek into the villains of the Fifth Plate.
‘Food Wars’ season 5 restart begins July 3
It can be recalled that the broadcast of “Food Wars” season 5 was temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. The postponement took place just after the airing of episode 2. Producers have since decided that instead of jumping right into the third Fifth Plate installment, the show will go into a reset and start from the start of the season.
It has been confirmed that “Food Wars” season 5 will return on the small screen on Friday, July 3, at 24:30 in Japan with the first episode. The show will return to its regular schedule. This means that the highly anticipated third episode will not air until July 17.
Fans who have access to official streaming platforms that feature “Food Wars” season 5 can revisit the first two episodes now. They might want to take this opportunity, especially since episodes 1 and 2 contained significant plot changes that are original to the anime series. So far, it is still premature to say that these alterations would lead to a complete change of the end just like many manga readers want to see.
New ‘Food Wars’ season 5 promo video gives glimpses on new villains
Most of the new “Food Wars” season 5 promo video shows the Totsuki students and faculty in their bathing suits as they spend some time on the beach. This is not a vacation, though. These scenes come from the first episode where the students take their final exam. It also serves as the official introduction of the new, sketchy character named Suzuki (see photo above).
In the second half of the promo video, fans will find other scary-looking characters who look nothing like chefs. However, they will be some of the fiercest and most talented chefs Soma and the other protagonists will encounter. But the trailer is right to portray them as terrifying characters because that is exactly what they will bring into “Food Wars” season 5.
In the manga, they were part of the group called Les Cuisiniers Noirs or the Midnight Chefs. Danger is part of their occupation as they cook for some of the most vicious criminal organizations. Once “Food Wars” season 5 returns, it should not take long before it is revealed how Suzuki is related to them.
