CHICAGO, Sept. 13, 2017 -- Thanks to a project partnership between the nationwide drug and alcohol treatment center Footprints to RecoveryTM and WTAE-TV, the Pittsburgh, Pa. television station will broadcast an exclusive segment that provides never-before-seen access to a client’s journey to addiction recovery on Wednesday, Sept. 13, in primetime.
The segment will air live on WTAE-TV at approximately 10:30 p.m. as part of the hour-long, live national Hearst TV Stations broadcast of “Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien” being broadcast Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 10 p.m. It also will be streamed live at http://matteroffact.tv/state-of-addiction/ and http://www.wtae.com/state-of-addiction.
The segment is a collaboration between Footprints to Recovery and Action News 4 reporter Sheldon Ingram, who receives exclusive access to chronicle a woman’s journey from drug-addiction through the treatment and recovery process.
“Matter of Fact” and Hearst TV have participated for the past year in a countrywide initiative by the National Association of Broadcasters to provide coverage of the growing opioid epidemic in the United States. According to the National Institute of Health, more than two million Americans are addicted to opioids.
“Collaborating on a project of this magnitude and importance, in a day and age when the opioid crisis in our country is at an all-time high, was both meaningful and powerful for all involved,” says Eliott Wolbrom, chief marketing officer of Footprints to Recovery. “Having the opportunity to showcase a snippet of the incredible, life-saving work our clinicians do every day should instill hope and faith in all those suffering with addiction that there are better days ahead.”
“We at Footprints to Recovery are proud to provide a comprehensive realm of innovative clinical services,” says Dr. Caitlin Simpson, regional director of clinical operations. “Through the mindful integration of traditional therapy, evidence-based practice, trauma-informed care, and complementary holistic approaches we aim to restore the well-being of those seeking the path to recovery.”
