Ford Motor Company has officially announced a recall affecting 422,613 vehicles across the United States following reports of windshield wiper failures that could pose a serious safety risk to drivers. The recall was confirmed by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and covers a wide range of popular Ford and Lincoln models.
The vehicles involved in this recall include the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs, along with select models from Ford's best-selling F-Series truck lineup. These are among the most widely driven vehicles on American roads, making this recall particularly significant for a large number of everyday drivers and commercial vehicle operators alike.
According to the NHTSA, the primary issue stems from windshield wiper arms that are prone to breaking unexpectedly. When this malfunction occurs, the wipers can stop functioning entirely, severely reducing driver visibility during rain, snow, or other adverse weather conditions. This kind of failure dramatically increases the risk of accidents, especially during heavy storms or low-visibility driving situations, making it a critical safety concern that Ford and federal regulators are taking seriously.
To address the defect, authorized Ford and Lincoln dealerships will conduct thorough inspections of the affected vehicles and replace any faulty wiper arms at no cost to the vehicle owner. Ford owners who believe their vehicle may be included in this recall are strongly encouraged to check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) through the NHTSA's official recall database or visit the Ford recall website for the most up-to-date information.
If you own a Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, or an F-Series truck, acting quickly is important. Driving with compromised windshield wipers is not only dangerous but may also be a violation of road safety regulations in certain states. Contact your nearest Ford dealership as soon as possible to schedule an inspection and ensure your vehicle is safe to drive.
