Scott Singer, a Republican who left Boca Raton’s mayoralty in March, is pursuing a U.S. House seat in Florida’s 25th District ahead of the Nov. 3 election. The contest puts a former city executive before voters in a federal race with four candidates on the state’s list.

The Florida Division of Elections lists Democrat Jared Moskowitz and Libertarian Peter Jassenoff as qualified candidates, along with Michaelangelo Hamilton, a qualified write-in candidate. Florida records say Singer filed his state candidacy Feb. 5, 2026, and qualified June 8.

City records say Singer became mayor in 2018 and won reelection in 2020 and 2023. Boca Raton identified him as the outgoing mayor when a new mayor and council were sworn in March 31, 2026, marking his departure after three terms in city office.

Singer’s campaign says he would oppose tax increases, supports term limits for members of Congress and favors barring lawmakers from trading individual stocks. The campaign also lists border security, national defense, reducing government waste and keeping costs low among its priorities.

Florida lawmakers passed a new congressional map April 29, and the governor signed it May 4. A Florida Senate summary says the districts apply to the 2026 primary and general elections. The change followed the state’s 2022 map. The Associated Press reported that the new boundaries were intended to strengthen Republicans’ statewide advantage and would reshape a South Florida district where Black residents make up nearly half the population.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show Singer’s three authorized committees received $3,255,312.89 and spent $2,788,688.37 from Dec. 17, 2025, through Oct. 14, 2026. At the end of that period, the committees reported $466,624.52 in cash on hand and $582,318.15 in debt owed by the committees.

The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
