Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sharad Pawar was admitted to a Pune hospital on Nov. 2 after reporting pleuritic pain, prompting a general health check, Ruby Hall Clinic said.
The clinic said observation was precautionary. Dr. Purvez K. Grant, Ruby Hall Clinic’s chairman and managing trustee, said staff would continue monitoring Pawar.
Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule, Pawar’s daughter, said he had a bout of cough before admission and was undergoing tests. She reported that his condition was stable.
The National Health Service (NHS) says pleuritic pain may become more intense during breathing or coughing, but that term alone does not identify its cause. The clinic had not announced a diagnosis, test results or discharge date.
The Election Commission of India lists Pawar’s party as Nationalist Congress Party - Sharadchandra Pawar. Sule represents Baramati in India’s Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament.
