Epic Games was forced to temporarily close the newly added Playground mode on “Fortnite: Battle Royale” shortly after it went live on Wednesday.
Developers released update v4.5 and its most awaited feature was definitely the Playground mode. Epic Games described it as a “low-pressure environment where friends can let their creativity run wild.” In it, players were to be able to practice building structures and looting and get familiar with various weapons without having to watch their backs for enemies.
However, the Playground mode needed to be shut down for a while after Epic Games saw several gameplay issues, according to reports.
In a social media post on Twitter, Epic Games said, “We’re aware of the stability and performance issues currently impacting players and we’re working on an emergency patch to resolve this. We’ll keep everyone updated on the progress and roll out of the patch.”
Unfortunately, it remains uncertain until when the Playground has to be closed. In the latest update from Epic Games, it confirmed that the practice mode cannot be accessed for the entire Wednesday night while they promised fans another update on Thursday.
“We want to inform you that the Playground LTM will remain closed for repairs for the night. We’ll have more information available tomorrow,” Epic Games said in a Reddit post on Wednesday evening.
Once the Playground mode goes live again, players can explore the same Battle Royale map for an entire hour along with their squad for a hassle-free “Fortnite” game. Even though Friendly Fire can kill a teammate, lives will be respawned, except for deaths caused by the shrinking storm.
However, since it is the Playground mode, the storm “doesn't start closing in for 55m, and takes 5 minutes to close in.” Up to 100 Llamas will be dropped in every match and the resources will be easier to find by 10 times the normal rate. The game will also spawn chests and ammo boxes endlessly in this practice mode.
