France 24 reported Friday that residents of Russian-occupied Oleshky in southern Ukraine were leaving in a joint relief effort involving both sides of the war.

The broadcaster described residents as hungry and exhausted. It said the operation was the first of its kind during the war’s four years and eight months. Ukraine correspondent Emmanuelle Chaze filed the video report from Kyiv.

On Oct. 23, the White House said a planned pause in fighting was intended to let humanitarian aid enter Oleshky and prepare civilian departures. Its announcement set Oct. 29 as the pause’s start date.

France 24’s report of evacuations came on Oct. 30, a day after that scheduled start. EconoTimes previously covered the White House’s Oleshky pause plan.
