FxWirePro: President Trump’s job creation in manufacturing less than impressive

‘Jobs, Jobs, Jobs’. That is what President Trump promised to the Americans, who felt that they have been forgotten. President Trump’s said that he would be the greatest ‘Jobs’ President ever. The record low unemployment rate, with rates falling to a record low for African Americans, Hispanics, and Women would strongly suggest that he has succeeded in his promise.

Yes, to some extent he has. To his credit, his administration not only successfully halted the decline in jobs creation, but there has also been a sharp recovery. However, the numbers clearly show that the manufacturing revival has not been that great and recent weakness is pouring cold water on the sharp recovery.

The Trump administration has created on an average 16,000 manufacturing jobs per month in 2017, and 18,000 per month in 2018, which has fallen to just 9,000 in 2019. During the last six years, the Obama administration had created 9,000 jobs on an average per month, with the highest being 18,000 jobs per month in 2011.

However, these numbers remain minuscule compared to job losses during the recession era. Between 2003 and 2010, the United States lost 39,000 manufacturing jobs per month, with job losses touching 89,000 per month in 2008, and 93,000 in 2009.

For the job creation to be really impressive, much higher numbers are needed.
