Tensions seem to be rising once again,
- According to the latest report from South Korea, North Korea has started rebuilding a missile launch facility that was partly destroyed last year, according to satellite imagery captured two days after Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un failed to reach a denuclearization deal at their summit in Vietnam. The duo failed to reach an agreement as North Korea demanded lifting 5 of the 11 key sanctions but the United States’ was not willing to do it unless several undisclosed nuclear facilities are shut down with launch sites dismantled.
- Both president Trump and United States’ Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had touted the summit’s success despite a failure to reach an agreement.
- Meanwhile, actions in Washington also confirms the theory of rising tensions. U.S. national security advisor John Bolton warned North Korea that even tougher sanctions would be in place unless it decides to follow the path of denuclearization and reassess its negotiating position. Speaking to Fox Business Network on Tuesday, Mr. Bolton said, "If they're not willing to do it, President (Donald) Trump has been very clear they're not getting relief from the crushing economic sanctions that have been imposed on them………And we'll look at ramping those sanctions up, in fact."
