G-Dragon has always been called a fashion icon, and he once again proved that he deserves the title. In the recent list released by CBNData and Fashion Exchange, the BIGBANG leader appeared in the top 3 of China’s Fashion IP 100 List. What made this special is that he is not even around, but he still beat many great fashionistas out there.
According to Allkpop, this is the organization’s first global fashion and trend list, and it recognizes celebrities, designers, influencers, and artists around the world. Apparently, they record people who display great fashion sense and those who have big influences in the fashion industry.
GD’s rank in the list
G-Dragon is known for being unique when it comes to dressing up. He always stands out with his choice of bold colors, patterns, and textures, and amazingly, his ensemble was never an eyesore, but they usually fit him well. He typically goes for the eccentric style thus, he is rarely seen in plain colored clothes.
In the list, G-Dragon in third place with former EXO member Kris Wu taking up the second spot and Hong Kong-born actor, Shawn Yue, placing first. Trailing behind the BIGBANG member is Victoria's Secret model, Liu Wen, while Hollywood’s Rihanna was spotted at no. 5.
G-Dragon’s interest in fashion starts at a young age
Before he started to rub elbows with the world’s best fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and attends fashion weeks in Europe and the U.S., G-Dragon’s interest in fashion goes way back before his elementary school years. In one of his previous interviews, he disclosed it was probably his mother who made him interested in fashion.
“When I was really young like four, five or six my mom made me wear a lot of clothes, so I think from my mom,” he told Dazed when asked how he started to like fashion. “I’m kind of used to making something and drawing something on a t-shirt or whatever. One of a kind pieces, something different and special.”
When G-Dragon made a name for himself as part of BIGBANG and as a solo artist, he also launched his own fashion brand called PEACEMINUSONE, and his designs always sell out. He also collaborated with big brands such as NIKE for shoe designs, and these sell out fast too.
In any case, G-Dragon is set to be released from the army Oct. 26, a month earlier than his original discharge date. He is also expected to attend his older sister’s wedding this Oct. 11.
