A new teaser art for the upcoming Season 7 of HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” has sent some fans’ spines chilled.
The artwork, which was shared via the show’s official Twitter account, featured the side profile of the scary looking Night King. Not much about the profile is there, but the hornlike features, the elven-shaped ear, and the Night King’s pale blue, glowing eye is quite intimidating.
Deadline said the Night King first appearance was in a vision of Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright)in Season 4. He also lead the massive attack in Season 6, which lead to the death of fan favorite Hodor (Kristian Nairn). The show’s last season saw a newly-resurrected Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and now King of the North that the Night King and his White Walkers will attack again, and that the battle against the White Walkers are far more important than anything, including a battle for the Iron Throne.
IGN said that previous promotional images and videos followed a theme familiar to the White Walkers: ice. The show’s teaser trailer also hinted the possibility that Westeros’ primary threat would be coming from them. Moreover, the entire run of “Game of Thrones” is based off the books of author George RR Martin’s series, “A Song of Ice and Fire.”
On the other hand, Westeros banding together against the White Walkers would be a far stretch from the truth, The Hollywood Reporter noted. After losing her last remaining child to madness by exacting revenge to her enemies in King’s Landing, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) will no doubt be bolder with her moves to retain the claim to the Iron Throne. Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is also seen sailing towards Westeros with a massive army of soldiers and allies, and her three children (dragons), who are growing bigger and bigger by the day. Jon Snow, on the other hand, will need to prove to himself and to the Night’s Watch that he will fare better than Robb (Richard Madden), his predecessor and former Lord Commander.
“Game of Thrones” Season 7 returns on July 16 on HBO.
