‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 will feature darker places for Cersei as Lena Headey revealed that the Lannister tyrant will not have any redemption. Meanwhile, it was strongly speculated that Daenerys will be making in appearance in King’s Landing after Emilia Clarke posted a video of herself in Caceres, Spain.
According to the Independent, Headey revealed Cersei’s fate in the incoming season of HBO’s widely popular fantasy-drama television series. During an interview with Mashable that also covered Headey’s work with refugees with photographer Tara Todras-Whitehill, Headey talked about her character’s drive and intentions to stay in power.
Headey plays the vicious Cersei Lannister on the show and has been a major character in all previous seasons. She was introduced as the wife of King Robert Baratheon and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms in season 1 but rose to power in subsequent seasons. She was last seen taking over the Iron Throne following the suicide of her son King Tommen in the wake of the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor.
The 43-year old actress said, "I don't play her as a villain… I don't set out to do that consciously, I just play a woman who is a survivor and will do exactly what a man would do - which is, you know, murder somebody when you're in a war. Maybe just not directly.”
When asked whether Cersei will get the chance to redeem herself in the new season, Headey replied, "No… I think that would ruin it." It seems that Cersei will not be making amends to anyone anytime soon.
Meanwhile, a new photograph of Emilia Clarke in Spain suggested that her character Daenerys Targaryen will be making an appearance in King’s Landing. According to Games Radar, Clarke posted an Instagram video of herself ice-skating. Fans were quick to spot a sign beside the actress that read Caceres – presumably Caceres, Spain.
It was reported that Malpartida in Caceres has been transformed into a live set for season 7. The location is rumored to be the place where Dany ambushes Jamie Lannister and his men. The series’ visual effects team was also recently spotted in Spain, fueling speculations that Dany will indeed make an appearance in King’s Landing.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere on HBO sometime in mid-2017.
