‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 may feature the return of Gendry as the actor was recently spotted arriving in Belfast, where cast and crew are currently filming. Meanwhile, an HBO extras casting call suggested that an epic battle involving Daenery’s Unsullied and Dothraki will take place.

According to Nerdist, a new photograph of actor Joe Dempsie arriving in Belfast has emerged online fueling speculations that his character Gendry may finally make a reappearance in the incoming season of HBO’s critically-acclaimed fantasy-drama television series. The image of Dempsie at the airport was posted on Twitter by user Jon Targaryen.

Gendry was one of season 3’s major characters. He was last seen escaping from the island of Dragonstone with the help of the Onion Knight Sir Davos Seaworth. Gendry initially appeared as a recurring character in the first two seasons of the show and his status is currently unknown.

He was introduced as the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon, who refused to acknowledge his existence. Gendry was obviously unaware of his royal lineage and worked as an apprentice blacksmith under Tobho Mott in King’s Landing.

According to Vanity Fair, other principal cast members were also seen around the Northern Ireland filming set including Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who play sisters Sansa Stark and Arya Stark, respectively. The two reportedly got matching tattoos to mark the day that they first met. Lena Headey, who plays the villainous Cersei Lannister on the show, was also seen around Belfast.

Iain Glen was also recently spotted in town fueling more rumors that his character Jorah Mormont will also be making a surprise return for season 7. Jorah was last seen reconciling with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), who eventually ordered him to look for a cure for his fatal condition called grayscale.

Meanwhile, a new casting call for extras hinted at another imminent epic battle much like that of season 6’s “Battle of the Bastards” between Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). According to the Independent, HBO is looking for extras that were willing to shave their heads and beards as well as seeking a large number of horses as reported by Los Siete Reinos. It was presumed that a large battle with Unsullied and Dothraki will take place.

‘Game of Thrones’ is a critically-acclaimed fantasy-drama television series based on George R. R. Martin’s best-selling books ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. It was created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO.

Season 7 is scheduled to premiere on HBO sometime in 2017.
