With the rumors that George Clooney and Amal Clooney getting a divorce being quashed several times, it appears that tabloids have another bit of story going around for the actor. There are now claims that George could be running for president in 2020.
Are George Clooney and Amal Clooney America’s next First Couple?
Though he is best known for his movies and other ventures in the entertainment business, Clooney has also been vocal about several political and social issues in the United States and around the world. Additionally, he is also a known close friend of former U.S. President Barack Obama, who the Clooneys chose to be the godfather of their twins Alexander and Ella.
With that, Amal’s husband has been rumored to run for office several times. The latest story was published by Woman’s Day (via Gossip Cop) in August claiming that Obama was trying to convince Clooney to partake in America’s presidential election in 2020. So, for a change, the tabloid story has shifted from divorce rumors to the actor seeking a political career.
However, the answer to whether or not these claims are true comes from no less than Clooney. The actor has said multiple times that he has no interest in seeking a position at the White House.
In an interview with Julianne Moore for Variety in 2017, Clooney said they have been having conversations about this subject for the past 10 years. But every time he has dismissed the possibility of running for president.

“I think that having a celebrity as president who has a star on Hollywood Boulevard will exorcise our need to have someone famous in office,” the actor added. He was apparently referring to the current U.S. President, Donald Trump, who has a star on the Hollywood Boulevard for his contributions to TV entertainment. Trump hosted the reality TV show “The Apprentice” on NBC in 2003.
George Clooney, Amal Clooney rumored heading for multimillion-worth divorce
One of the widely shared divorce rumors of George and Amal was published by Radar Online earlier this year. The publication claimed that the popular couple was breaking off their marriage with a $520 million worth of fortune involved. But a representative of the actor immediately denied the claims.
