Georgia voters will cast ballots in the U.S. Senate race Tuesday, Nov. 3, as incumbent Jon Ossoff faces Republican Mike Collins in a contest the Associated Press says could affect control of Congress.
At a March 2 ballot-qualification event, Ossoff said, “This morning, I signed papers officially declaring my candidacy to continue serving Georgia in the United States Senate.” His campaign said he qualified for the 2026 ballot that day.
A separate statement of candidacy dated March 27 lists Ossoff as a Democratic candidate for Georgia’s Senate seat in 2026. The Federal Election Commission filing designates Jon Ossoff for Senate as his principal campaign committee.
Collins’ campaign announced June 16 that he won the Republican runoff and advanced to the general election against Ossoff. EconoTimes previously covered polling in the Ossoff-Collins race, including an Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll that gave Ossoff a sizable lead.
Before entering the Senate, Ossoff ran a small business that made investigative reports, according to his Senate biography. His office said he was younger than earlier senators from Georgia when he was sworn in on Jan. 20, 2021.
Official Federal Election Commission results show Donald Trump received 2,663,117 votes in Georgia in the 2024 presidential election. The Georgia secretary of state lists the statewide general election for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
