Getinge AB, a Swedish medical technology company, topped third-quarter adjusted EBITA estimates on Oct. 21 even as equipment sales fell, with recurring revenue rising and overall organic growth slowing.
Adjusted EBITA reached SEK 1,278 million for July through September, up from SEK 1,079 million a year earlier. The result exceeded the SEK 1,185 million median estimate of 12 analysts compiled by Modular Finance. Getinge’s adjusted EBITA margin rose to 15.1% from 13.1%. Adjusted earnings per share climbed to SEK 3.10 from SEK 2.42.
The quarter included about SEK 45 million in tariff refunds and a favorable currency effect of about SEK 36 million on adjusted EBITA compared with a year earlier. Getinge also incurred about SEK 107 million in tariff costs, leaving a net tariff cost of roughly SEK 62 million. The company calculated an adjusted EBITA margin of 14.3% excluding the refunds and currency benefit; that calculation still includes tariff costs.
Net sales increased to SEK 8,446 million from SEK 8,226 million, although organic growth slowed to 2.1% from 9.5% in the year-earlier quarter. Orders totaled SEK 8,781 million, an organic increase of 2.6%.
Demand varied across the business. Recurring revenue grew 6.2% organically, while capital goods sales declined 6.3%. Life Science sales fell 3.6% organically, which Getinge linked to restrained pharmaceutical investment in washer-disinfectors and related products. Acute Care Therapies sales grew 4.5% organically.
Free cash flow rose to SEK 1,302 million from SEK 793 million. Getinge cited operating profit and working capital as contributors to the increase. President and CEO Mattias Perjos said changes in the sales mix, pricing and productivity supported earnings.
Getinge kept its 2026 outlook at 3% to 5% organic sales growth after accounting for the phaseout of Surgical Perfusion. Growth for the first nine months was 2.5%. The company’s fourth-quarter and full-year results are preliminarily scheduled for Jan. 26, 2027.
