Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa said her policy agenda differs from her party’s and described discontent with both parties as she campaigns ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

Hinojosa made the remarks in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.” She said, “My agenda is not a Democratic agenda.” Hinojosa also said Texans’ disillusionment extends to both parties and argued they are looking for a new political path.

Hinojosa is challenging Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the Nov. 3 election, with Libertarian Pat Dixon also on the certified ballot in the Texas governor’s race.

Polling has shown different leaders. A University of Houston Hobby School survey of 2,000 likely voters put Abbott at 49% and Hinojosa at 46%. A University of Texas/Texas Politics Project survey of 861 likely voters gave Hinojosa 49% and Abbott 48%; that one-point difference was within the survey’s 3.34-percentage-point margin of error.
