‘Girl Meets World’ Season 3, Episode 19 Features Special Audience Interaction in “World Meets Girl”; Rowan Blanchard Heads Twitter Campaign for Series Renewal

Rowan Blanchard plays Riley Matthews on Disney Channel's 'Girl Meets World'

‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 19, titled “World Meets Girl,” is set to feature a special audience interaction as cast members answer questions from audience members. Meanwhile, Rowan Blanchard headed a Twitter campaign to call on Disney Channel for a series renewal.

According to Cartermatt, the incoming episode of Disney Channel’s coming-of-age sitcom will be more of a series special featuring some audience interaction, which may explain its slightly different title “World Meets Girl.” It is expected to air on the network on January 6, 2017 and will be followed by the last two episodes of the season titled "Girl Meets Sweet Sixteen" and "Girl Meets Goodbye", scheduled for January 13 and January 20, respectively.

Rowan Blanchard is set to return as the series’ protagonist Riley Matthews, the bubbly and outgoing teenage daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews. Blanchard is joined by Sabrina Carpenter, who plays her on-screen bestfriend Maya Hart.

According to Movie News Guide, ‘World Meets Girl’ will be an hour-long interactive episode where cast members will also answer questions from members of the audience. The official Twitter page Girl Meets Writers posted, “Next: You are cordially invited to World Meets Girl. A one hour thank you note from us to you.” It was speculated that the episode will feature a major announcement regarding the future of the series, which is yet to be renewed by the network.

The series finished filming the third season back in August but no news of a possible season 4 has been announced as of the present. Rumors of a series cancellation began circulating online. When asked about season 4, Carpenter admitted, “No, we do not [have an update]. We have been so lucky to work on the show for the past three years and we don’t know what’s happening yet… But we’ve got amazing new episodes that are still airing and everyone so far has liked them so we’re really lucky.”

According to Seventeen.com, Blanchard began a Twitter campaign rallying fans to call on more seasons of their popular television series. She tweeted last November 15, “So important 4 our gen to be a voice of hope/change & learn from each other. Hoping we continue to have that chance #GirlMeetsWorldSeason4.” Fans began to use the hashtag as well as #SaveGirlMeetsWorld to express their support for the series.

‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 19, titled “World Meets Girl,” is expected to air on Disney Channel on January 6, 2017.
