‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 8, entitled “Girl Meets Ski Lodge: Part 1”, is set to follow Riley reliving Cory’s past through a trip to the infamous Mount Sun Lodge. Meanwhile, it was speculated that her love triangle with Maya and Lucas may finally end with the introduction of a new love interest.
Episode 8’s synopsis posted on Carter Matt stated, “Cory becomes head of the Nature Club, so the gang goes on a trip to a familiar ski lodge.” The short teaser doesn’t seem to give much away except that Cory (Ben Savage) will be revisiting the infamous ski lodge from the past – this time with his daughter and the rest of her friends as well as his wife Topanga (Daniel Fishel).
According to E! News, the ski lodge was a critical setting for one of most memorable moments in the original television series ‘Boy Meets World’. On Cory’s senior ski trip to Mount Sun Lodge, he sprains his ankle and spends the night in the lodge without telling Topanga. A young brunette employee named Lauren (Linda Cardellini) volunteers to take care of him and the two end up kissing and writing love letters.
This almost breaks Cory and Topanga’s relationship apart. Despite the two having a happy ending, the ski lodge remains infamous in the Matthews home. It is unclear whether a new character will come in to wreak havoc in the new episode.
A sneak peak showed Cory preparing his class for a field trip by saying, "The ski lodge was almost the end of Cory and Topanga, America's sweethearts, and now I know something's going to happen there for you, so I'm preparing you. For nature." Riley explains, "Those were very bad times for Cory and Topanga. But everything's fine now except we can't ski ever, or say ski, or walk downhill."
In another promo trailer posted on ET, the group enters Mount Sun Lodge in a way that’s reminiscent of Cory’s past. Riley (Rowan Blanchard) is helped inside by Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas (Peyton Meyer) after spraining her ankle. The three take a seat by the bay window where Cory and Lauren spent the night sometime years ago making a deep connection.
Riley then proceeds to tell them that they should all end their love triangle. Things become interesting when a potential new love interest is introduced. It seems that Josh (Uriah Shelton) has joined the group in Mount Sun Lodge and may become closer to Riley.
‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 8, entitled “Girl Meets Ski Lodge: Part 1”, is the first half of the season finale scheduled to air on Disney Channel on July 22, 2016.
