U.S. equity funds’ withdrawals contrasted with $10.19 billion in global equity fund inflows for the week ended Oct. 28, extending the buying run to six weeks, Reuters reported, citing LSEG Lipper.
The latest week extended the five-week inflow streak covered by EconoTimes. The global figure represents net purchases across equity funds during the reporting period.
Reuters reported net purchases of $9.9 billion for Asian equity funds and $4.54 billion for European equity funds. U.S. equity funds posted $6.65 billion in net withdrawals. The three regional figures total $7.79 billion, leaving a $2.40 billion gap against the reported global amount.
Technology funds received $5.5 billion, up from $5.07 billion a week earlier, Reuters reported. Industrial funds added $408 million, while utilities funds recorded $928 million in outflows.
Reuters pointed to rising AI and semiconductor shares as a backdrop to the week’s Asian and technology fund purchases, with South Korean chipmaker SK hynix leading the stock rebound. The company announced preliminary third-quarter revenue of 104.6155 trillion won, operating profit of 83.3338 trillion won and net profit of 39.7756 trillion won on Oct. 28.
SK hynix said its revenue and operating profit were quarterly records, rising 32% and 38%, respectively, from the previous quarter. The company attributed the increases to higher prices for key products and growing demand for AI memory. Its results remain subject to change during the audit process.
SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung said customer trust built through the company’s technology was “leading to long-term contracts.” The company also forecast that AI-driven investment would keep memory demand above supply through 2030; that is its outlook, not a confirmed outcome.
