Moscow has once again urged the United States to preserve the Iran nuclear agreement reached between Iran and six world powers including both Russia and the United States back in 2015. According to details of the deal published by the US government, Iran's uranium stockpile will be reduced by 98 percent to 300 kg for 15 years. The level of enrichment must also remain at 3.67 percent. Iran will retain no more than 6,104 out of almost 20,000 centrifuges it possesses and Iran will keep its door open to international monitors like IAEA, which as of latest certified that Iran remains aligned with the agreement. The United States’ defence Secretary James Mattis also concluded that Iran remains in compliant with the agreement.
Other partners of the agreement, such as the EU, China have also urged President Trump to preserve the nuclear agreement, which he criticized heavily and called it as one of the worst negotiated deal ever. President Trump is set to announce his decision on the agreement this month.
Speaking in Astana, Kazakhstan the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has once again cleared that Russia wants Trump to preserve the agreement and he said that he expects a balanced decision from President Trump.
