Global Geo-political Series: President Trump not bothered by Russian expulsion of diplomats

American mainstream media became furious with President Trump as he doesn’t seem bothered by the fact that Russian President Putin expelled around 755 diplomats from Russia and seized two US diplomatic compounds. Speaking after a national security briefing, at his New Jersey Golf course Bedminster President Trump held his second press conference on North Korea. When asked about the expulsion of diplomats by President Putin, Trump said that he is thankful to him as it would save money, “I want to thank him because we’re trying to cut down on payroll and as far as I’m concerned I’m very thankful that he let go of a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll. There’s no real reason for them to go back. I greatly appreciate the fact that we’ve been able to cut our payroll of the United States. We’re going to save a lot of money.”

While the neo-conservatives in the United States have been worried about the move and the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that there is no reason for such aggression of Russia, President of the United States seem not bothered by it at all.

In a way, the reaction from Trump is quite natural, given the fact that Russia has shown a great deal of restraint when it comes to his administration. Russia’s expulsion of diplomats came long after Barrack Obama expelled 35 Russian diplomats from the United States and seized two Russian diplomatic compounds in December and Congress imposed new sanctions on Russia in a bill that curbs President Trump’s power to move unilaterally and remove sanctions against Russia.
