As threats fly, the possibility of a war on Syria looks imminent, and military threats are exchanged, President Trump might be trying to lure Russia in giving up its support for the Syrian President Bashar al Assad in exchange for the removal of sanctions against it. A few hours earlier, Trump tweeted a war threat against Russia in Syria, “Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!” It was followed by another tweet that hinted at diplomacy and the above-mentioned exchange, “Our relationship with Russia is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War. There is no reason for this. Russia needs us to help with their economy, something that would be very easy to do, and we need all nations to work together. Stop the arms race?”
With two sides remaining at loggerheads over Syria, it is difficult to expect that Russia could be lured in giving up Syria in exchange for sanctions removal after all the efforts that have put into the country for past several years.
