Global Geopolitical Series: Paraguay set to follow U.S. and Guatemala in moving Israeli embassy to Jerusalem

Paraguay is ready to move its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, making it the third such country to announce the move after the U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced the moving of embassy late last year. Previously, Guatemala announced that it would be moving the embassy in two days after the U.S. embassy is moved.

According to reports, the United States is scheduled to move its embassy to Jerusalem on May 14th of this year and Paraguay would be moving the embassy by the end of May and become the first Latin American country to do so. Paraguay’s foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nashon announced the decision on Monday.

These moving clearly show that despite opposition, the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is slowly gathering pace and one can expect lot many countries to move their embassies by the end of next year. Experts say that the number of countries moving its embassy could reach 50 by next year.
