Global Geopolitical Series: UK suffers Trump ire over leaked ambassador’s emails criticizing administration

The United Kingdom in hot water after leaked emails of UK ambassador to the United States revealed the ambassador’s anti-Trump administration bias and displeasure over the President’s foreign policies. The report first came out in Daily Mail on Sunday, which has seen the email dated June 22nd after President Trump called off the Iran strike.

UK ambassador Sir Kim Darroch criticized the Trump administration by calming it is dysfunctional and he doesn’t believe President Trump’s explanation in calling off the strike on Iran.  He also added that the Trump administration has not served its ally, the United Kingdom well in its policy decisions. After the leaked email, the United Kingdom has tried to distance itself from Sir Darroch, with Prime Minister Theresa May condemning the comments made by the ambassador, but the damage was already done.

After initially refusing to launch an attack on the ambassador except for saying that the ambassador has done a disservice to the UK, President Trump fired through his Twitter Account as the leaked criticism were making rolls in anti-Trump media. The President said that his administration would no longer deal with the UK ambassador Kim Darroch, “I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well.......thought of within the U.S. We will no longer deal with him. The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!”

The ambassador’s removal is now just a matter of time and formality.
