“Goblin Slayer” Episode 2 is expected to be a mix of action and character development, with the latter focusing on the Goblin Slayer and what motivates him to do the things he does. In the previous episode, this mysterious and seasoned fighter showed his martial prowess when he took on a cave full of goblins.
He also managed to rescue the show’s main protagonist, a 15-year-old adventurer who goes by the name of Priestess. It isn’t clear if this is her name but it’s safe to say that Priestess is merely the title of her rank. Perhaps the shonen series will reveal this part of the character during “Goblin Slayer” Episode 2.
Aside from character exploration, “Goblin Slayer” Episode 2 will also introduce another protagonist called Cow Girl. Cow Girl’s uncle was the one who took the mysterious warrior in when he was a child after being orphaned following a goblin attack in his village.
It was this brutal act that made the protagonist learn the art of the sword, dedicating his life to eradicating goblins that are plaguing villages across the region. In “Goblin Slayer” Episode 2, the shield-bearing warrior will take on two goblin contracts, one of which will be coming from a man who doesn’t have much in terms of reward.
But as said earlier, the warrior’s cause is fueled by hate and vengeance, not coin and greed. However, the character’s perspective isn’t one-dimensional as he did acknowledge that there are goblins out there who may be good-hearted. Of course, such creature has yet to be introduced on the show and it’s unlikely that this development will occur in “Goblin Slayer” Episode 2.
As for the theme of the series itself, the previous episode already showed that this anime will be pretty dark and brutal. There will be a lot of people dying as Priestess and the warrior take on more contracts to eliminate factions of goblins throughout the land. And during these contracts, Priestess will grow to be a capable adventurer, hardened by blood and experience she will endure as they move forward. “Goblin Slayer” Episode 2 is slated to air on Oct. 13.
