Goldman Sachs cautioned that power infrastructure may lag the pace of AI data center development, threatening the timing of new computing capacity as electricity needs rise.
Across projects planned for the coming couple of years, the bank estimates that around half of combined capacity may be ready on schedule. The figure measures capacity rather than counting individual facilities.
The assessment connects rising electricity demand from AI infrastructure with the pace of power construction, a factor central to when planned data center capacity becomes available.
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has also pointed to electricity access and construction labor as constraints on data center building, in remarks previously covered by EconoTimes.
