Google has officially sent invitations for its launch event for 29th September. According to latest reports, the search engine giant will unveil the next generation of Nexus devices, including Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
“Please join us on Tuesday 29th September where we'll unveil some exciting new treats", the invite read.
According to The Inquirer, recent rumors suggest that LG is expected to build Nexus 5X, while Nexus 6P is to be built by Huawei. Both devices are expected to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and displays of 5.2in and 5.7in respectively. Moreover, both will feature fingerprint scanners on the back and will offer USB Type-C ports.
There have been reports about “leaked” specifications of the upcoming Nexus 5X. GizmoChina reports that the new Nexus 5 will come with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 (MSM8976) processor, up to 4GB of LPDDR3-1866 RAM, up to 64GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, a 3180mAh non-removable battery, a MediaTek MT3188 wireless charging receiver, and a Marvell Avastar 88W8897 connectivity chipset for 802.11ac Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.2.
The leak also suggests that the new Nexus 5 will have front stereo speakers, a rear power button with integrated fingerprint sensor, a 13-megapixel rear camera with an IMX278 RGBW sensor, a 6-element f/1.8 aperture lens, OIS, laser autofocus, and a dual-tone LED flash, a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with an OV4682 RGB-IR sensor and Iris Detection.
IBTimes UK reports that Nexus 6P will have two front facing speakers, a Snapdragon 810 processor –“hopefully not the same version which caused overheating issues with the Sony Z3+ - and storage options of 32, 64 and 128GB”.
LG, Huawei’s Nexus phones are expected to be up for pre-order on October 13, TalkAndroid reports.
