‘Gotham’ season 3 recently unveiled new photographs of The Mad Hatter’s Alice in Wonderland-inspired evil lair. Meanwhile, more images of Maggie Geha’s Poison Ivy and Jamie Chung’s Valerie vale have also been released.
New photographs of The Mad Hatter’s creepy lair have recently been released. The behind-the-scenes images posted on Screen Rant teased an Alice in Wonderland-inspired hideout for an incoming character. Benedict Samuel has joined the new cast for season 3 as The Mad Hatter, a highly intelligent scientist turned villain.
Samuel’s character was described as “a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness.” The Mad Hatter is otherwise known as Jarvis Tetch, an ex-research scientist obsessed over Lewis Carroll’s work and is fond of hats of all shapes and sizes. He is highly delusional, obsessive-compulsive, suffers bouts of mania and depression, and is suicidal.
The Mad Hatter is also best known for his unique skill of mind manipulation. As a scientist, he created several mind control circuitry such as headgear and hats that makes wearers lose conscious control of their own mind.
The incoming season is also set to feature a host of notable characters including the Tweedle Brothers, an adult Poison Ivy, and investigative reporter Valerie Vale.
An image of Poison Ivy posted on Den of Geek showed Maggie Geha’s version of the iconic Batman antagonist in full adult form. Geha replaces child actress Clare Foley a.k.a. Poison Ivy in season 3.
The show’s executive producer John Stephens teased during a previous interview, “She is a big girl now… One of the creatures that escaped from Indian Hill [in May’s finale] has the power to age people… Sometimes he uses it to kill people; other times he doesn’t get to complete the process.” He added, “Maggie really seems like Clare. She is playing the same intonations and rhythms. It’s great.”
Meanwhile, Jamie Chung of ‘Once Upon A Time Fame’ is joining the new cast as Valerie Vale in season 3. According to another article on Comicbook.com, Valerie is an investigative reporter for the Gotham Gazette and aunt to Vicki Vale, a character from the original DC comic books.
Chung teased, “You find Valerie in the midst of it all asking the tough questions, trying to get to the core of the story… I think the question is whose skin she doesn’t get under. She’ll gives the cops a lead, but continues to show up — and that makes it difficult for them to do their job.”
‘Gotham’ is an action-crime series based on the characters from the original DC franchise’s Batman comic books. It was developed by Bruno Heller for Fox and follows James Gordon’s early days at the Gotham City Police Department. It also features a young Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman.
Season 3 is set to premiere on the network on September 19, 2016.
