JACKSONVILLE and CLEARWATER, Fla., April 19, 2018 -- GuideWell Insurance Agency, an exclusive property and casualty agency for Florida Blue health plan members, will offer StormPeace, a new supplemental hurricane policy from Assured Risk Cover that provides coverage of losses and expenses not covered by traditional homeowners insurance.
“We’re excited to welcome Assured Risk Cover and its hurricane policy StormPeace as a partner that will help give families greater peace of mind when the next hurricane strikes,” said Tom Freeland, vice president of GuideWell Insurance Agency. “We are stringent advocates for our members, and we carefully select insurance carriers to partner with that meet our standards of reliability and are on solid financial footing. Assured Risk Cover meets those high standards.”
With StormPeace there is no claims process. Payments are automatic and are based on the strength of the hurricane and the distance of the property from the storm. Funds are wired to the policyholder’s bank account within 24 to 72 hours and can be used to offset costs associated with:
- Tree and debris removal
- Power restoration (e.g. buying a generator)
- Temporary living expenses (e.g. hotel, food, gas)
- Replacing spoiled food
- Repairs to unattached structures (e.g. gazebos, docks and pool covers)
Policies start as low as a dollar a day and policyholders can even use the money to pay their homeowners deductible, which is often unaffordable.
“Hurricane Irma proved that the first few days after a storm can be paralyzing. Floridians who purchase StormPeace supplemental insurance have an opportunity to get back on their feet faster,” said Alok Jha, CEO of Assured Risk Cover. “We paid 98 percent of eligible claims within three business days, most within one business day, and that will be important to more residents with another active hurricane season on the way.”
