Wibra Selects Verkada Cloud Platform to Centralize Store Security

The planned point-of-sale link would let staff retrieve footage tied to refunds, cancellations and discounts. Verkada says Wibra operates more than 375 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Dutch retailer Wibra selected Verkada’s cloud-managed security platform to centralize store camera management and connect video with selected checkout transactions as part of a planned move from store-level systems.

Verkada announced the decision Oct. 16 and said Dutch IT services provider Simac is assisting with implementation. The release characterizes the platform as AI-supported and says it will replace camera setups managed separately at stores. It gives no timetable for the security rollout.

The first planned connection is Wibra’s point-of-sale system, which records checkout activity. The integration would let staff call up footage associated with a specific refund, cancellation or discount entry, Verkada said. Wibra also intends to connect other existing systems to the platform. The release does not state the contract value or camera count.

Verkada said Wibra’s IT team began seeking a centrally managed system after assuming responsibility for physical security. The announcement says Wibra wanted an option it could scale as operations changed, and that the search happened alongside a network renewal. The release lists theft prevention and store optimization among Wibra’s goals. Verkada quoted Wibra IT Manager Mathijs Eijbaard as also citing customer experience, employee safety and job satisfaction.

The release puts Wibra’s store count above 375 across the Netherlands, Belgium and France, and says it has an online shop. It does not break down the planned security coverage by country or say how many locations have moved to the service. The announcement included no measured results from the security changes.

Simac’s separate network assignment provides context for its role in the security rollout. In an announcement dated Nov. 13, 2025, Simac said Wibra selected it to renew and manage networks at stores in the three countries and at the retailer’s distribution center in Apeldoorn. Simac projected at the time that store network work would begin in early 2026. Verkada and Simac announced a Benelux partnership on Oct. 7, 2025, Verkada said. The security announcement gives no date for the camera-system migration.
