‘Hawaii Five-O’ season 7’s episode 12, titled "Ka 'Aelike / The Deal," is set to feature the Five-O team racing against time to rescue Chin from the vengeful Diego Cartel after he sacrificed his life to save kidnapped niece Sara.
The synopsis for episode 12 posted on TV Muse reads, “After Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) is kidnapped by a cartel in Mexico, Five-0 must find and rescue him before he is executed by the group that's out for revenge.
Also, Grover (Chi McBride) goes undercover as a car salesman to investigate a murder that turns out to be far more complex and dangerous than expected.”
In the preceding episode, titled "Ka'ili Aku / Snatchback," Chin and the rest of the team decided to head south to Mexico in hopes of rescuing Chin’s kidnapped niece despite DEA Agent Navarro’s warnings (Maximiliano Hernandez). By the end, Chin sacrificed his life in exchange for Sara’s safety as well as the protection of his teammates. Chin’s fate with the vengeful cartel remains unknown at this point.
According to TV Fanatic, the incoming episode may see the Five-O team storming the Diego Cartel compound to save Chin from getting killed.
During an interview with TV Line, Kim talked about his character’s situation in the midseason finale saying, “The fact that he was willing to lay down his own life for this girl says everything — and it’s not a rash decision he made… He decided in a cool, calculated way that his life is worth the well-being of this child.”
The real-life father of two continued, “As a parent, I understand that instinct… so it’s nice for him to experience that. It’s not nice for him to go through it, but it’s nice for him to understand what it means to love a child.”
When asked if the cartel could use his resources as a lawman to their advantage instead of killing him, Kim replied, “I doubt it!... So it really will be a matter of how the team works together to get him back home. We’re going to see Five-0 get involved, as we always do when it comes to the welfare of one another.”
‘Hawaii Five-O’ season 7’s episode 12, titled "Ka 'Aelike” / “The Deal," is scheduled to premiere on CBS on January 6, 2017. It was directed by Joe Dante and written by David Wolkove and Matt Wheeler. It will be followed by episode 13, titled "Ua ho'i ka 'opua i Awalua” / "The Clouds Always Return to Alawua," scheduled for January 13.
