HONOLULU, Feb. 29, 2016 -- Hawaiian Telcom announced that Greg Chamberlain has been promoted to the company’s executive team as Vice President of Network Operations, overseeing technical installation, repair and construction projects, central office and dispatch operations and network support services.

Prior to joining Hawaiian Telcom in 2013, Chamberlain served as Executive Director of Network Engineering at SureWest Broadband, now known as Consolidated Communications, where he was instrumental in the company’s successful deployment of Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) over fiber. His responsibilities also included the deployment and management of key services such as Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP), Internet Service Providers, servers and data centers. Prior to this, he served as Director of Network Operations for WINfirst (Western Integrated Networks), a Denver-based communications company.
Chamberlain began his telecommunications career 35 years ago as a service technician for Pacific Bell in Oakland, California. He became a splicer, then a supervisor and worked his way up the organization into outside plant engineering, focusing on high capacity management and wireless network build-outs, and later network system design and fiber deployment.
Born and raised in California, Chamberlain earned a bachelor’s degree in physical geography from the University of California at Berkeley.
