The making of “High School Musical 4” has been confirmed since 2016. However, what fans only know at the moment is there will be a set of all-new main characters. How are they related to the original cast of East High School students?

Shortly after the announcement of “High School Musical 4,” Disney confirmed the initial lineup of characters. Five names were dropped and none of them sounds familiar. But the brief descriptions revealed that at least one is related to the original Wildcats.

On top of the “High School Musical 4,” main characters list is Campbell who is described as the new Troy Bolton (Zac Efron). He juggles his responsibilities as one of East High’s top soccer players and as an actor for the theater group.

What’s more exciting about Campbell is the fact that he is a cousin to the twins Ryan (Lucas Grabeel) and Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale). This is one of the obvious connections between the original trilogy and “High School Musical 4.” However, this still does not guarantee that any of the original cast members will appear in the upcoming TV movie installment.

Any high school-themed show will not be complete without a love triangle drama. “High School Musical 4” is making that happen through Campbell’s unrequited love for a girl named Erin. She sounds like a toughie considering she earned a place in the East High boys’ soccer team.

Unfortunately, Erin will not immediately notice Campbell’s feelings for her since she is preoccupied with her own interest toward another character named Derek. The latter is also part of the soccer team and described as a “bad boy” who spends his spare time by teaching girls to dance. But it would not be shocking if, somewhere in the middle of “High School Musical 4,” Erin finally notices Campbell.

Tamara sounds like the girl to watch out for in “High School Musical 4.” She seems to have lost his popular status in East High, which makes her hungry to reclaim the title. Lastly, there is Nathalie of the cheerleading team and Erin’s best friend.

So far, it appears that Campbell is the only “High School Musical 4” character with a direct relation to the original Wildcats. Meanwhile, a report earlier this year said Disney is yet to cast the actors to play these roles and an official release date has not been set.
