Reuters reported Wednesday that the Saudi-led coalition described drone interceptions above Medina and the Eastern region, while the Houthis denied operating against Saudi Arabia amid renewed fighting in Yemen.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree rejected the report, saying his forces had taken no action against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and had not sent drones toward Medina.
Two days earlier, the Houthis said they had carried out six missile and drone operations against Saudi oil facilities and airports, describing them as retaliation for Saudi strikes in Yemen.
Reuters said renewed clashes had ended a truce brokered by the United Nations in 2022 that had largely stopped cross-border attacks. The agency also linked the escalation in Yemen to the wider conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Reuters also reported that previous Houthi attacks on Riyadh’s airport and Saudi Aramco interfered with flights and the kingdom’s oil exports. It said a Houthi missile strike on a government security training camp in Shabwa on Monday killed 73 people.
