ICW Group Insurance Companies appointed longtime executive Travis Noland to lead ceded reinsurance and enterprise risk management as the company says growth and diversification have increased the importance of managing risk and capital.
ICW Group announced the appointment Oct. 15 and said the role is newly created. The company did not specify when Noland will take up the post.
Noland joined ICW Group in 2004 and has worked in reinsurance, catastrophe underwriting and property underwriting. Most recently, he was vice president of catastrophe underwriting, overseeing DIC and mono-line flood, the company said.
The California Department of Insurance (CDI) lists Noland as a vice president among the principal officers of ICW, Explorer and National as of Dec. 31, 2024, in its consolidated examination report. The report says Insurance Company of the West wrote $1.278 billion in direct premiums in 2024, with workers’ compensation making up 92.9%.
The report also records growth in ICW’s assumed reinsurance from non-affiliates: about 150 agreements and $260 million in assumed premium as of Dec. 31, 2020, compared with about 550 agreements and $1.8 billion as of Dec. 31, 2024. The direct-premium figure concerns Insurance Company of the West, while the agreement counts describe assumed reinsurance from non-affiliates. ICW’s announcement did not connect these figures to Noland’s new responsibilities.
ICW Group President Mark Moitoso said the company’s growth and diversification had made it more important to adapt its approach to risk and capital. He said ICW needed to “evolve how we manage risk and capital across the enterprise.” Noland said he was “honored to take on this new opportunity.”
