SANTA CLARA, CALIF., Dec. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sazze, parent company to eCommerce sites including DealsPlus, BlackFriday.fm, Whym, Pocketly and Progrids, reported significant traffic metrics and site performance this past Black Friday, with four million users running three billion queries throughout the day. Sazze's Black Friday Ads mobile application is among the top Apple Appstore apps for Black Friday, and DealsPlus also saw a significant increase in site use.
Sazze has worked with ScaleArc, the leading provider of database load balancing software, since 2012 to enable continuous website uptime and real-time visibility for its infrastructure. ScaleArc enables Sazze to successfully scale the component of its technology stack that had proven the hardest to scale – the database. ScaleArc also enables Sazze to distribute the database load and achieve database failover that doesn't interrupt shopping for its customers.
Key metrics for Sazze for Black Friday 2015:
• 2.5x higher traffic than Black Friday 2014
• 4 million users, vs. typical day of 400K
• 3 billion queries, of which ScaleArc cached 70%
• 80% mobile traffic vs. typical 50%
"Black Friday is the Super Bowl of eCommerce," said Craig Thayer, vice president of technology, engineering and operations for Sazze. "We used to spend the holiday troubleshooting database problems and other issues as traffic spiked on Black Friday. This year, we kept a close eye on things, but we were able to spend the holiday with family because, despite the massive traffic surge, we had no fires or outages. ScaleArc was critical to our success this year as the database is always one of the biggest problems."
"ScaleArc is excited to be part of Sazze's big win this Black Friday," said ScaleArc CEO Justin Barney. "Sazze is like a lot of our customers, in that the database is the weakest link in their infrastructure for enabling continuous availability. Helping Sazze solve this critical problem is very satisfying, and we appreciate the trust that Sazze and all our customers place in us in having our software serve their most critical apps."
