India's National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and BSE Ltd. are set to hold a 70-minute Diwali equity session Sunday, Nov. 8, before a Nov. 10 market holiday.
Angel One's schedule identifies the exchange notices' clock times as India Standard Time (IST). On that basis, continuous trading is scheduled from 3:50 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET (2:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. IST), while pre-open activity starts at 3:35 a.m. ET (2:05 p.m. IST), according to the NSE circular and BSE notice.
The NSE's order schedule allows market and limit orders from 3:35 to 3:40 a.m. ET, followed by a limit-only period until 3:45 a.m. Order matching and confirmation are set for 3:45 to 3:47 a.m., with a buffer before continuous trading starts.
The 3:30 p.m. IST close applies to securities outside the Closing Auction Session (CAS). For CAS securities, the NSE schedules continuous trading to end at 3:15 p.m. IST (4:45 a.m. ET), followed by the auction process. The NSE circular says participants remain responsible for settling trades completed during the session.
The NSE calendar identifies Nov. 8 as Diwali Laxmi Pujan and says Muhurat trading will take place that day. Both exchanges list Tuesday, Nov. 10, as a Diwali-Balipratipada trading holiday. EconoTimes previously reported the session date in coverage of the Diwali session and detailed the Nov. 10 equity holiday.
