Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India could become a global toy hub and urged young entrepreneurs to "team up for toys" as part of the government’s "vocal for local" initiative.
According to Modi, while the global toy industry is around a billion US dollars, India’s share is very small and work is needed to increase it.
He added that the country should have India-centric games and urged young entrepreneurs to develop computer games in the country, noting that toys can be used to build minds.
Modi also lauded participants of the “app innovation challenge.”
Other than discussing the toy industry, Modi praised the citizens for their restraint and simplicity in their festivals during the pandemic.
He hailed farmers for increasing the sowing areas for different grains.
