SALT LAKE CITY, March 2, 2016 -- Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) will implement Kuali Research to build a stronger and more flexible infrastructure to support and grow its sponsored research. The selection of the open source software demonstrates the university's focus on improving the research experience at IUP.
"The purchase of Kuali Research demonstrates IUP's commitment to improve the research experience at IUP and make it easier and more accessible to faculty," said Mark Berezansky, executive director of the IUP Research Institute.
IUP recently improved and streamlined its administrative research processes; however, it needs the access and integration enabled by Kuali Research to provide more transparency and better reporting tools to help grow and support research. Kuali Research will provide a single repository for all proposal and award information, and productivity and reporting tools to help the university streamline and manage the lifecycle of its sponsored projects. The key features that IUP is most excited about include:
- Easy access to data that will give faculty, deans, and administrators more information and earlier in the process.
- Robust reporting tools to provide up-to-date and accurate information to stakeholders.
- Integration to IUP's accounting software that will give principal investigators and others up-to-date information on expenditures and budgets.
- Electronic routing and data capture that will greatly reduce manual tasks and speed up administrative processes.
- Keyword capture that will identify research topic areas for reporting and possibly new funding.
"Our primary goal is to grow our sponsored projects portfolio," said Tracy Eisenhower, M.A., CRA, senior grant and contract specialist at IUP Research Institute. "Kuali Research will take us to the next level so we can attract and maintain additional research. It will put more flexibility and more strength into research at IUP."
Kuali Research provides full online sponsored projects management to simplify processes and improve insights. The cloud-based solution is affordable and easy to get started so it delivers value quickly for all institutions from PUIs to very large research organizations. Its out-of-the-box reporting provides administrators and departmental users the tools to leverage its powerful repository of information to gain important insights and make more informed decisions.
