Infosys opened a new development block at its Pocharam campus in Hyderabad on Friday, adding 10,000 seats as it expands capacity for client work and a larger hybrid workforce.
The 1.1 million-square-foot facility is intended to support more than 13,000 additional employees under a hybrid working model, Infosys said. The figure describes capacity, not a hiring commitment: the company announced no hiring target or staffing schedule with the opening.
Pocharam is a 450-acre site that had seven software development blocks and about 4.58 million square feet of built-up space before the new building, according to Infosys. Combining those figures with the new block implies about 5.68 million square feet across eight blocks; that expanded total is a calculation, not a figure separately stated by the company.
The center serves clients in banking and insurance, retail, life sciences and manufacturing, Infosys said. The expanded site is intended to give the company more room for work spanning cloud computing, cybersecurity, engineering, digital services and artificial intelligence (AI).
Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said the facility will help Infosys increase its operational capacity and develop specialized talent. The company framed the addition as support for client operations and talent development as businesses adopt AI, but offered no demand forecast.
The building uses radiant cooling and smart lighting, while its water systems include rainwater harvesting and wastewater reuse. Infosys also said the design brings natural daylight into work areas.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the project would create “opportunities for our youth.” Telangana IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu also attended the inauguration, Infosys said.
Separately, Infosys and Truist Financial Corporation announced earlier in October that Infosys would support the U.S. bank’s Hyderabad capability center. The companies said Truist plans to bring some work handled by India-based suppliers under one operating structure.
