‘It’ director shared a series of on-set photographs on his social media account including storyboards as well as filming set details. ‘Stranger Things’ star Finn Wolfhard is also featured in a faux missing kid poster in the upcoming Stephen King live-action adaptation.
Director Andres Muschietti recently shared several photographs from the filming set of his upcoming live-action adaptation of the bestselling horror novel ‘It’ authored by Stephen King. According to /Film, the filmmaker has been quietly sharing images on his personal Instagram account, with details teasing the terror that is about to hit the big screen.
One of the photographs showed a storyboard featuring William “Stuttering Bill” Denbrough, the leader of the group of children known as “The Losers’ Club”. Bill is portrayed by Jaeden Lieberher in Muschietti’s new film. The image suggested a scene where Bill makes a paper boat for his younger brother George.
In the original 1990s adaptation of the same name directed by Tommy Lee Wallace, George is lured to the evil Pennywise after his paper boat is caught in rainwater and washed up in a sewer. Pennywise makes idle conversation with George before he ultimately kills the child. Bill’s stutter grows worse following George’s death.
Another storyboard showed Bill with bike and his back turned. The phrase “He thrusts his fists against the post” is scrawled on the right side of the image. It is an excerpt from the full rhyme, “He thrusts his fists against the posts but still insists he sees the ghosts”, which Bill uses to tame his stutter in King’s original novel.
An interesting photograph of note is a missing child poster showing the first look at the character Richie Tozier, a 13-year old boy and member of the “The Losers’ Club”. According to Cinema Blend, Richie is portrayed by child star Finn Wolfhard of ‘Stranger Things’ fame. The poster design also suggested that Muschietti’s film will indeed be set in the 1980s instead of the original 1950s setting.
Richie is one of the main characters of King’s novel who fought against Pennywise the Clown. He was depicted as a boy who wore thick black glasses with notable front teeth that earned him the nickname “Bucky Beaver”. He is also known for his use of foul language, which often gets him into trouble.
‘It’ is an upcoming live-action adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling horror novel of the same name. It follows a group of children terrorized by a malevolent shape shifting creature called Pennywise. It is directed by Andres Muschietti and written for the big screen by Gary Dauberman and Chase Palmer.
The film is scheduled to premiere in the United States on September 8, 2017. It is produced by KatzSmith Productions, Lin Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment, and Village Roadshow Pictures. It is distributed by New Line Cinema in the United States.
